When introducing a new service to your practice, it is common for your patients to have questions and concerns about any potential side effects that come from revolutionary treatments. The good news is that you can reassure your patients that Red Light Therapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment, and with Contour Light therapy, side effects are nonexistent.
Red Light Therapy vs Other Light Therapy Treatments
There is a good deal of skepticism when it comes to light-centric therapies. Many people fear increasing their risk of skin cancer from the amount of light exposure during treatment. However, the Mayo Clinic confirms that “Red light therapy is not the same type of light used in tanning booths, and it doesn’t expose your skin to damaging UV rays.”
In fact, Red Light Therapy has been proven to promote a healing response within the cells. This is why it is such an effective tool in treatments aimed at fat loss, reducing lines and wrinkles, relieving pain, accelerating healing and lifting moods in patients. Red Light Therapy interacts with our bodies on a cellular level, and unlike ultrasound, radio frequency, laser light, and freezing treatments, LED-based therapies do not cause cellular damage.
Several clinical studies confirm how this spectrum of light interacts with the cells in the human body. As a non-surgical and non-invasive option, low-level Red Light Therapy is one of the safest treatments available.
The Contour Light System: Designed For Safety
We developed the Contour Light System with two primary goals in mind:
- To create a Red Light Therapy device that provides the most consistent results in body contouring on the market.
- To make the design simple to use, easy to administer, comfortable for patients, and most importantly, safe for both practitioners and patients.
The Contour Light System is so simple to use that it does not require extensive training nor any sort of certification to operate. Treatments typically last between 15 and 30 minutes, and can be adjusted based on the needs of your patient. This system is designed to treat the body from head to toe with numerous red light pad placement options for custom targeted treatment for body contouring, pain relief, skin rejuvenation, increased blood circulation and immune system rebalancing.
Contour Light Therapy Side Effects
When people ask us about the side effects of the Contour Light System, we always say, “The only known side effect is feeling good!” Red light therapy is not only for body contouring, skin rejuvenation and pain relief, studies have proven its positive effects on the brain. Patients use words like “I feel blissed all over”, or they report feeling more peaceful and calm with a lighter mood. Red light is good for you all over.
It is important to note that the LED light emitted by the Contour Light device does not generate heat and so it does not burn or damage the tissue. However, the light is very bright and patients should take care to shield their eyes when using the face mask. Short glances at the light will not harm the eyes, but staring at the light should be avoided.
Contraindications for Red Light Therapy
There are special circumstances that warrant consultation with a physician before the use of Red Light Therapy:
Compromised Liver and/or Kidney
During Red Light Therapy treatment, our cells release fat and toxins into the lymphatic system for elimination from the body, passing through the liver and kidneys. If the liver or kidneys are compromised by pre-existing medical conditions, it is important to consult a doctor before starting Red Light Therapy treatment.
Significant Light Sensitivity
Patients who have extreme light sensitivity, either due to a medical condition or a medication, should get clearance from their doctor before using Red Light Therapy.
We always recommend that patients who are pregnant should check with their OB before utilizing the Contour Light System.
